frequently asked questions

Kid’s clothes week started a few years ago when I made myself get off the couch and sew for one hour a night for a week.  And it worked: I got up! I made things! I screwed up some things too! Then the next year I invited others to join in and it turns out that when lots of people cheer each other on it’s much easier to get off the couch and make cool stuff.

Four times a year KCW comes around and challenges you to:

Work on making clothes for kids

one hour each day for a week.

It’s pretty simple, but there are still some questions that pop up and need answering.

FAQ:

when does kcw happen?

for one week each season: spring, summer, fall, winter

how many hours?

work for one hour for sure, but you don’t need to set a timer. If the hour is up and you are still going strong, go with it!

how many days?

every day for 7 days

do I have to sew?

pattern making, fabric cutting, seam ripping, they all count too.

where do I post pictures of the things I made?

Flickr! you can post all of your pictures in the elsie marley flickr group.

do I have to have a blog?

no, not at all

if I do have a blog, do I have to blog about it?

not if you don’t want to. It can get kind of crazy trying to sew and then blog about it the next day. You can always concentrate on sewing the week of kcw and then blog about all the lovely things you made the week after.

I’m in the southern hemisphere, can I still take part?

of course! you will be working in the opposite season, but the challenge is still the same!

I should be able to officially participate this time around. I knocked out a lot of great stuff this spring, but I wasn’t officially involved. I have a few other things I’d like to check off my list. YAY! Go summer clothes! No sleeves!
