KCW is just a week away! Can you believe it? All this week, we will be highlighting some fantastic kid’s clothes makers and bloggers. We’ve asked them all to tell us about their favorite pattern.
We’re starting off the week, with the lovely and talented Lindsay from Lindsay, Etc. All of the clothes Lindsay make for her kids are incredibly polished. She competed in Project Run & Play last fall and even though she wasn’t the last sewer standing, her Stella McCartney inspired band jacket is still my all time favorite. Her favorite pattern, on the other hand, is the Ayashe top by Figgy’s. Elegant and simple, clean and polished, it came as no surprise when Lindsay chose this pattern, but I’ll let her tell you about it:
I loved this top since it made the rounds last year, and have been pretty excited to put it together.
Mine was made from poplin and a Nani Iro gauze. I kind of love the floaty, airy quality of the print, and the body and weight of the poplin worked perfectly. I opted to forgo the elastic around the bottom and used the mandarin collar which has such a polished finish.
As noted by fellow seamstresses, I played with the size and length to suit my girl. I just took it in by about 1/3 inch on each side and lengthened it by about an inch. Fabric suggestions are spot on and I love how classic and fun this pattern is- the possibilities feel endless.
Checking out all the different takes on the ayashe from the figgy’s flickr pool is seriously inspiring, and I am already laying out fabrics for an ayashe dress! Best sewing wishes to you all this KCW, and thanks Meg!
