New KCW Community Feature: To-Make Lists

In our minds, Kids Clothes Week is as much about the process as the final product. We want the KCW Community site to be a place to show off finished projects and also to organize your thoughts about sewing for your kids. To better support this process-style thinking, we’ve added To-Make lists to the KCW site!

What does this mean? It means you can add a project to the KCW site before you have done a thing – when it’s just a fabric twinkle in your eye. You can check off steps in the process as you move through your week of making (Have you traced your pattern? Have you cut your fabric?), and when you’ve checked them all off, you can share your project with us all. These lists are for your eyes only, but when you’re all done you can click a button to move all your information to a public project.

We love the tiny satisfaction that comes with checking an item off a list, and we hope you’ll love this feature!

Example:

I want to make some pants for my baby nephew. I go to the “ADD” menu and select “add TO-MAKE LIST”, then I fill out the simple form. (Note: Only a project name and pattern/self-drafted are required to start.)

Then, I’m taken to my To-Make list where I can add progress or fabric pile photos. This is also where I can check off items as I go.

list screen B

When my project is complete, I click “I’m Done!”, and I’m prompted to turn my list into a project.

list screen C

All my project data is brought over to my new project, and it is shared in the Projects pool.

You can find all your in-progress lists on your Dashboard. Scroll down!

Great idea! It’ll be way easier to thoughtfully post the things I make if the post can be done in stages!

I LOVE this idea. I’ve made up a few and am wondering if there is a place to go back in and see them?  i accidentally added one before i added the pattern and couldn’t figure out how to edit it.  also, i don’t see where the pattern you chose shows up anyway?  thanks! hoping this will get me organized so i can actually do it this time!

So awesome!  Love this feature.  I haven’t actually been able to participate in KCW since you rolled out the new site.  I’m hoping this will be the one!

Thank you so much for this wonderful resource. I’m gearing up for my first progeny, due in February, and I think this will really help me get concrete about what I want to accomplish.

Genius!  How does you guys keep KCW getting better? It’s amazing.  Nothing makes me happier than checking of a to-do list.

Such a great idea. Maybe now I won’t forget what i’m doing. if only I could remember what I went into the kitchen for.

What a great idea!  So far my scratched out list on an old envelope has been my preferred method but I may have to make a switch now!

I love this feature! But is there any way to edit or delete these lists? I got ahead of myself and would like to make some changes but can’t figure out how…

Hi Amanda. Good point! We’ve added a delete button.

I am really excited about this new list option and know it will help me keep on top of everything. I am having some trouble figuring out how to go back and look at or edit/update some of the projects on my “To Do” list.

Duh! I’m sorry, I figured out how to edit/update. Seems I lose some common sense when pregnant.
