Here is a burst of yellow to brighten up your sewing studio! When I look at this bright and happy collage of handmade clothes I am inspired to make simple garments out of bold fabrics, complex garments out of simple fabrics, and to put unexpected details on basic patterns. What I am saying is that your work makes me want to SEW ALL THE THINGS!

Because you guys do sew all the things! And you make them your own with handmade fabrics, or just plain fantastic fabrics, or by changing the pattern a bit to suit your child or your style. Sometimes “being creative” feels like it has to be a big thing. But paint a doodle on a pocket and suddenly you make a simple dress into a treasure heirloom. Sew some elastic in a painted rectangle, and you have a modern work of art. Creativity doesn’t have to feel so overwhelming that you keep putting it off, like organizing your closet. It can be a little detail that brightens up your whole project.

Now turn off the computer and turn on your sewing machine! You have to go SEW ALL THE THINGS!

I can hardly handle looking at the project pool during KCW. There are too many cool ideas I’d get distracted by. This week I sew, next week I browse the awesomeness!

Thanks for featuring my daughter’s skirt. It’s so true what you say though, often I over complicate my own creativity, letting go to the reins with that skirt really opened up my eyes to how simple creativity can be. I guess it’s almost like looking through the eyes of your child, creating shouldn’t always be so much work, I’ve enjoyed branching into this season’s theme, its been absolutely refreshing!!
