I’m so excited to introduce you to this season’s contributors. You might recognize some of their blogs (books!) pictured above. Let’s start at the top of the stack and work our way down.
1. fedora 2. stylo accessories 3. hummingbird dress
Glitter + Wit is written by Natasha Early. Natasha sews gorgeous clothes for her little girl and boy. Hats, shoes, and crowns, Natasha also makes fantastic accessories. She even has a sewing bucket list! How could I not pick her? Being a contributor for KCW was on it!
1. pompoms 2. cozy kids 3. bathers
Thirtynine is a Australian blog written by Marisa. The clothes Marisa sews are always so bright and happy! Marisa sews for her daughter and once in a while even for her son. Her burst of bright sunshine will be just what we need this season!
1. another hawthorne 2. ole jacket 3. signature style
I can’t tell you what huisje boompje boefjes means, but I can tell you Maartje writes it. And I can also tell you that Maartje makes the most amazing clothes for her son: jackets, jeans, hoodies, sweatshirts. All those garments that sound too hard to even think about making–Maartje makes them. And makes them look easy!
1. bantha hoodie 2. motorcycle skinny jeans 3. heart of gold
And last but not least is Ari Green who blogs at Max California. Ari is our second Australian contributor this season. You may already know Ari’s–she’s hard to miss! Her work is always memorable, along with being loud, crazy, and super fun! Ari also runs the popular Sew Geeky monthly sewing series (with Sew Chibi).
This is most definitely going to be an exciting group of contributors! Yay for KCW!
If there is a chill in the air you might sense it’s near. If you receive our newsletter then you already know: the new season of Kid’s Clothes Week is here! The official challenge week this season is October 20-26, 2014. Plenty of time to stare at fabric, pick out some patterns, and make a plan of attack! Before the challenge week, we will have heaps of inspiration, some fantastic giveaways, and even a tutorial or two.
The theme for this season is STORYBOOK. With school back in session and the weather turning crisp and cool, we thought it would be the perfect time to cozy up with a book–and maybe discover some sewing inspiration along the way. We read so many books to our kids and so many of them are works of art. Why not look a little closer at your favorite? Is there a color combination that you are drawn to? Maybe a pattern you hadn’t noticed before? Or maybe the illustrator draws great clothes you want to copy flat out. Pick up a book and see where it takes you!
As always, you don’t need to work with the theme if you don’t care to. If you do use the theme and it takes you in a crazy direction, all the better! There is only one rule for KCW: sew 1 hour a day for 7 days. Are you ready?! Well then why not make it official? Click here to sign up for the OCT. 2014 season. After you sign up, grab a button to put on your blog, or Facebook, or Intstagram. We have some extra-large versions of the 3 bears button and the 3 pigs button for you to put in a post on your blog, or print out for your sewing room!
