Have you ever drooled over German or Dutch or French blogs? Lusted after their buttery knits in adorable prints? Coveted their cute little trims? But when you go to your local fabric store to find something similar you come up empty handed. Then you need to go to L’oiseau Fabrics! Michelle started l’oiseau (pronounced lwa-zo) last year in order to get gorgeous European fabrics to people outside Europe! No more drooling!
I’ll let Michelle tell you a little about her shop:
l’oiseau fabrics supplies high-quality European fabric, ribbons, yarn and patterns from Europe and around the world. With delightful and whimsical patterns, gorgeous basics and fantastic accents, your kids will love whatever you sew with our wonderful selection.
L’oiseau carries a huge variety of fabrics from laminated cottons to cute printed corduroy and everything in between. I am especially drawn to their selection of printed knits. Below you will find some of my favorite prints on some of my favorite knit fabric: bamboo, organic interlock, and french terry. All of them are soft and buttery and a dream to sew!
L’oiseau also has an extensive selection of poplins. What are poplins? Poplins are a bit lighter than quilting cottons, with a much nicer drape. If you are in warmer climes, poplin works well for crisp shirts and twirly skirts. In places where winter is coming, poplin can be a playful printed coat lining or it work as pants when you add a fleece or flannel lining. What you see here is only a tiny bit of the printed poplins l’oiseau has to offer:
Michelle’s shop is full of fantastic fabric, it’s true! But she also has it stocked to the gills with other treasures. I found myself filling up my shopping cart with a little here, a little there: sewing patterns, knitting patterns, yarn, iron-on transfers, and trims galore!
