fresh ideas + giveaway

ETA: I apparently forgot to press publish on this before the weekend! But make sure you read through for our awesome sponsor and join in the giveaway. I’ll be posting the first wrap up later on today 🙂

As we are getting closer to warmer months (or cooler depending on where you’re at 😉) we slowly start to transition our wardrobes into staples that will accommodate our upcoming weather. From jeans to shorts or puffy winter jackets to tank tops (or vice versa), this is the best time to take a fresh perspective on our pattern stuff and what we’d like to sew. Personally, I also take this time to think about new patterns to incorporate into the kids wardrobes.

Romper Inspo

1/2/3/4/5 (clockwise from left)

Looking for inspiration this season, I’ve come across a lot of sleeve ruffles and rompers/overalls for the girls in neutral/pastel tones and interesting design details on otherwise basic pieces and again, neutrals but with pops of vibrant colours this time for boys. One of our sponsors for this week has patterns that include all these details. Puzzle Patterns just released their first pattern collection not too long ago that entails everything I’m looking for in patterns for the upcoming season. Trendy and versatile. These patterns not only have great design ones, but fit right into what I’d like to sew for the kids this season.

Pant Inspo

1/2/3/4/5 (clockwise from left)

I had some fun piecing together some inspiration using their patterns as my jumping off point. The Ring Around the Rosie Romper at the top (which also has a dress variation) would be perfect for not just the munchkin that loves to run around. It comes with ruffled sleeves as well, for that girl look. I think this would be a great piece in a double gauze to make it like and breezy for the summer. Or use a print on the bib portion to give it a fun design detail.

And the Jumping Jack Pant have a loose harem feel to them without being in your face! Use a neutral and create a wardrobe staple out of it, or maybe use a fun print for a fun coordinate piece. Heck, even use a French Terry to create a cozy sweatpants for those cooler nights.

Dungaree Inspo

1/2/3/4/5

There’s also the Flying Fox Dungarees which I am in love with! Dungarees (or overalls as I like to call them) have made a big comeback over the past year. I am loving the fact that they come in multitudes of colour, and that are for both girls and boys. You can patch them up to personalize them to your child’s likes, or customize the pockets into different shapes to give them a whole new feel. Not include in my inspiration collage is the Merry Go Round Dress and Top. This is another pattern I’d love to try, especially with the dramatic ruffle along the neckline!

And finally, make sure you enter below for your chance to win the entire Playtime Collection from Puzzle Patterns!!! Good luck 🙂
