swimsuit week winners

Hey guys! Just wanted to pop in quickly this morning. We’ve just gotten back from another quick cottage getaway, where we spent SO much time in the water, which I feel is totally appropriate as we’re wrapping up our swimsuit weeks.

I still actually need to share the swimsuits I’ve made with you guys, but I didn’t want to keep those of you that entered in our awesome giveaway waiting!

The prizes were in no particular order, so let’s recap and see who won each one!

First prize was a 30$ gift card for The Fabric Fairy and 1 swimsuit pattern from Simple Life Company. The Fabric Fairy has slowly become one of my go to’s for when it comes to purchasing swimwear fabric. They have great quality, huge selection of solids and prints (in both boardshort and nylon/spandex) that I’m always able to find what I’m looking for. And the Simple Life is a newer to me pattern shop, but I’ve really fallen hard for the designs they’ve created, especially in their swimsuit patterns. I want to say a huge congrats to the winner of this package, Melissa!!!

Our second prize was a 30$ gift card for Raspberry Creek Fabrics and 1 swimsuit pattern from Upcraft Club. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about Raspberry Creek and Upcraft. These are two amazing women that have both created amazing shops. At Raspberry, you’ll be able to find one of a kind prints on swim and board that they print in house, and each summer they bring out great new designs with adorable coordinates. And at Upcraft, you’ll be able to browse through a curated list of pattern designers to find the swim pattern you’ll have been looking for, and maybe even a new to you designer! Huge congrats to the winner of this package, Judith!!

And last but not least, we have a 25$ gift card for Peekaboo Pattern Shop. Here, you’ll be able to find everything you need, since Peekaboo is not only a pattern shop that carries adorable styles of patterns for both boys and girls, but also carries a great selection of swim and boardshort fabric as well! I personally love that they have SPF 50 fabrics specifically too. You’ll be able to choose your pattern AND the fabric you’ll want to match it up with. Big congrats to the winner of this one, Lim Hwee Ke!!

All you lovely ladies will be getting an email from me shortly! So make sure to check your inboxes! And again, I want to say a HUGE thank you to our sponsors for these past two weeks full of swimsuits! I’ll be back to share what I’ve made throughout the weeks in a few days.

girls swimsuit patterns

Hi, it’s Tami here from SewSophieLynn and I have a confession. I am addicted to sewing swimsuits!

It seems like the options for girls swimwear patterns has exploded in the last few years. When I first started sewing swimsuits for my girls, the Cosi Swimsuit from SewPony was THE swimsuit pattern. It’s loaded with options and is a great place to start.

Peek-a-boo Pattern shop has also been around forever and is constantly adding more swimsuits to their pattern collection. This Marilyn Vintage suit is a unique style with boy short legs and a cute halter neckline. They also have a few long sleeve suit options that I adore.

Made for Mermaids is my go-to for swimsuits. Their Mermaid Shores collection has so many adorable options. The Calypso, Camila, and Lainey are some of my favorites but the new Reagan Rash guard is a great option for more coverage.

If you’re looking for options then the Mairin from Sew A Little Seam is the pattern for you. With multiple leg openings, one or two piece choices, a ton of strap and back options it’s the ultimate in a build-your-own swimsuit pattern.

Violette Fields Threads is another pattern company that is chock full of swimsuit choices for girls. They have a sweet vintage feel to them that makes them unique and irresistible. This is the Catalina pattern and I love the knot front and little leg ruffles!

Ellie and Mac’s newest swimsuit, the Cape Cod, is another pattern full of options. This has moved to the top of our list for next year. The keyhole neckline is so fun!

The Narwhal suit from Sofiona Designs is another pattern I’m dying to sew up. How cute is that front detail?!

The Azur Swimsuit from Titchy Threads is another fun retro suit and bonus- it’s reversible! Simple Life Pattern Co. has a great collection of swimwear including Elise’s One Shoulder suit that looks gorgeous with the ruffle. The Peach Beach Swim Set and Abernathy Swim Set from Little Luxe Collection are sophisticated takes on children’s swimwear and are beyond cute! The Into the Blue Suit from Striped Swallow Designs is so on-trend this season. Rad Patterns has a couple of darling suits and they go all the way down to newborn sizing. The suits from Little Lizard King have been popping up all over my feed and I’m adding the Sanibel to my list STAT!

Boo! Designs is known for their perfect fit and they have so many classic designs to choose from. Jalie is another company known for it’s impecable drafting. A plus when choosing a Jalie pattern is that one pattern includes sizes 2t- women’s 22 (Can you say mommy and me suits?!).

Well, I hope you aren’t overwhelmed with all these options! So.many.choices! Are you looking for something classic? A little more trendy? Love that vintage feel? There really is something out there for everyone and you might just find yourself sewing a new suit for every day of the week.

girl swimsuit trends 2019

Hey! I’m Karly and today I’m here to talk about girls swimsuit trends! Girls really have so many fun options, only your imagination is the limit! Now that I live in the desert and it’s quite a bit hotter than where we were before, my girls have been pretty much living in their swimsuits, so I’ve made quite a few more this year than I ever have.

1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8

There are so many fun options to choose from when making a girls swimsuit. Keyholes, flounces, colorblocking, ruffles, cutouts, etc. One trend I’ve seen growing in popularity is multiple back straps and it gives swimsuits a really fun detail.

Custom fabric companies are becoming more and more popular which gives so many more options for fabric prints too! One really popular combo has been florals with solids. Mermaid scales have been another really popular trend and I’m starting to see a lot of animal prints popping up too! Stripes I think are a classic that will never go out of style, which makes me happy too!

10/11/12/13

Another trend I’ve seen a lot this year is girls high-waisted two pieced suits. This is a great option when you want more coverage but with all the benefits of a two piece. Long sleeved cropped tops paired with high waists is another option I’ve seen but haven’t yet made up. I can definitely see why it’s popping up more though!

14/15/16/17

Lastly, long sleeved options and rash guards have been growing in popularity. These work great when you have a kid that sunburns easily and are in the sun a good chunk of time, like my Zoe. This is actually the first year I’ve made her a couple suits that aren’t long sleeved and well….we learned really quickly that that’s not really an option that works well for her, at least my Paisley will still be able to grow into them!
Make sure to stop by tomorrow to see pattern inspiration and don’t forget to enter the giveaway below!
