Welcome to day 2 of giveaway week! Yesterday it was patterns and today it’s fabric! Janice from The Fabric Stash has been a long time supporter of KCW and we love to support her and her fantastic shop!
The Fabric Stash is a small, on-line only, family run business. We donate $1 (actually more!) for each purchase made toward children in foster care in Los Angeles County. We cater to garment makers, quilters, bag-makers….everyone who loves to sew!
The Fabric Stash is chock full of gorgeous fabrics! They ship quickly and affordably and Janice answers all your questions super fast! And isn’t it so wonderful to know that there is a bit of kindness behind every transaction? Not only do you get to feel good about buying fabric from the Fabric Stash, you also get to buy beautiful fabric!
1. newsprint blue by Suzuko Koseki 2. echino decoro birds in black 3. echino decoro animal frame 4. wee wander by Sarah Jane Studios 5. cotton and steel arrows (coming soon) 6. comma commas black chalk
Looking (and getting lost in) the shop, I was drawn to some of the darker prints. They reminded me of summer nights where the children are up too late, but it’s such a gorgeous evening you don’t really care. Your children run and hide and yell and discover that your backyard is the most magical place at dusk. Using such dark colors for children’s wear is definitely a bold choice, but it also is a beautiful one.
I was also drawn to the sparkle-y polka dots of Michael Miller’s Glitz collection. If the darker colors were summer nights, then these are most definitely summer days. The pool, the lake, the river, a popscicle, your ice tea, they all shimmer in the summer sun. Why shouldn’t your clothes shimmer and shine too?
The Fabric Stash has a great clearance section called the Six Dollar Special! I don’t ever leave a fabric store without visiting the clearance aisle, so why would I leave a on-line fabric shop without visiting theirs?! There are many treasures to be found in this section and all of them are 6$ a yard!
Janice not only runs a fabric shop and supports KCW, but she is often a KCW participant as well! You can hardly blame her. When you are surrounded by beautiful fabrics all day how could you not want to sew with them?! These 2 simple skirts she sewed a few years ago continue to be some of my all time KCW favorites. The are both made with Kokka prints: the first with fat, happy cats and the second with bright, happy shoes!
In addition to all the fabrics you see here, the Fabric Stash is excited to carry the upcoming Heather Ross Far Far Away collection, the new fabrics from Cotton + Steel, and in the fall, Art Gallery Fabrics. You can get all the shop updates (and sale codes too!) when you sign up for their newsletter.
