Sewing Notes

  • Did the fabric you used work well?: The fabric was a dream to sew - it sewed and pressed well and will be lightweight to keep my girls cool on holiday.
  • What was the best part?: The finishing instructions give you a completely professional finish. I went to town on all the things such as burrito lining, french seams and covered buttons. The fabric choice itself dictated this - it was so nice to work with that I went all out on everything! Even though my girls won't appreciate it with them being 2 and 5 I will know and feel satisfied that they are wearing the best that I can make.
  • What was the most frustrating part?: The burrito lining took some strategic folding the ensure I didn't catch it when sewing the lining to the skirt - especially under the armholes where there was very little room. I went slow and I didn't have to unpick on either dress though.
  • How difficult was the sewing?: a nice challenge

Pattern Notes

  • Were the instructions clear?: yes
Very clear and through instructions. There were sections where Jess gave a short cut option - such as simply overlocking the bodice/lining to the skirt rather than doing the burrito thing.
  • Were the fabric recommendations correct?: yes
  • Did you make any changes to the pattern?: no
  • Did the garment fit well?: yes
The size two fits my almost 2 year old perfectly. The size 5 does fit my 5 year old but as she is tall I should have known to add an inch or two to the length of the skirt. It currently hits her just above the knee - which is acceptable but she won't get much wear out of it - hopefully she won't have a growth spurt over the Spring/early Summer! Although my 2 year old will get the wear out of it when she's older as she's average height.
  • How would you rate this pattern?: 5
